34th Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony
The Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame celebrates sports and serves as a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley. The 2015 speaker will be the legendary quarterback Archie Manning, father of Peyton and Eli Manning. Archie Manning, a standout at Ole Miss who went on to set passing records for the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame and is also a member of the Louisiana and Mississippi halls of fame.
Three former directors of University of Tennessee athletics, the late Bob Woodruff, Joan Cronan and Gloria Ray, will be among the inductees.
Hospitality for the event begins 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the ceremony at 7:30.
Each year, 10 local individuals are inducted into the Hall of Fame for achievements in athletics, media, coaching, sports administration and officiating. Other honorees include Knoxville’s Most Outstanding Male and Female High School Athletes of the Year, Pat Summitt Ignite Greatness Award (Jason Witten), Chad Pennington Professional Athlete of the Year (Candace Parker) and “Thanks for the Memories.”
