“An Evening with Author Sharyn McCrumb,” hosted by Friends of the Knox County Public Library and the East Tennessee Historical Society, features a light reception (starting at 6:30 p.m.) with the New York Times bestselling author. McCrumb will discuss her new novel, “Prayers the Devil Answers,” which tells the story of Ellie Robbins who is appointed to serve out the term of her late husband as sheriff of their rural Tennessee mountain town during the later years of the Great Depression. The novel is the latest in McCrumb’s Ballad series.
