The East Tennessee Historical Society will recognize its East Tennessean of the Year, Roy Kramer, a native of Maryville and commissioner of the Southeastern Conference from 1990 to 2002. Kramer, a visionary and dynamic leader in collegiate athletics, will be introduced by U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander. The award honors an East Tennessee history maker who is an ambassador for the region. The award recognizes a recent accomplishment or a compilation of accomplishments in history, politics, entertainment, education, research or humanitarian work.
