Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame Ceremony
The Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame will hold its 33rd annual dinner and induction ceremony. Hospitality begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:30 p.m and the induction ceremony at 7:30 p.m. The featured speaker is Knoxville native Todd Helton, a former Vol football and baseball player and former Major League Baseball star with the Colorado Rockies. Helton, Peyton Manning and Inky Johnson are Special Award recipients.
The class of 2014 inductees are: David Douglas, football; John Bruhin, football; Wade Houston, basketball; Nikki McCray, basketball; Jenna Johnson, swimming; Jimmy Pitkanen, tennis; Joel Helton, coach; Atlee Hammaker, baseball; Peter Oppegard, figure skating; and Jerry Wrinkle, coach/official.
All proceeds from the event benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley.
