The Knoxville Area Urban League’s Shoes for School is an annual event that provides new shoes for area children who have been registered through local nonprofits. School supplies also will be distributed to all children while supplies last. These back-to-school basics give students stability and boost their self-esteem so that they can successfully start a new year in the classroom. The event has moved indoors in 2024 to the Jacob Building at Chilhowee Park. Also new in 2024 is an employment and vendor fair for parents and guardians with attendees able to explore potential job prospects and career paths. Vendors can display their goods and reach new customers.
