Moxley Carmichael KSO Masterworks Series: A Shift Festival Send-Off – CANCELED

March 19, 2020 @ 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. |

(As a proactive measure against the COVID-19 virus, this event has been canceled. A live broadcast on WUOT FM 91.9 also has been canceled.)

The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra had been one of only four orchestras selected to be featured in the now-canceled SHIFT: A Festival of American Orchestras at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Listeners can hear a special preview of the D.C. program, “Knoxville: Artists at Home,” including Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, a reprisal of Michael Schachter’s Overture to Knoxville (commissioned by the KSO in 2017) and Copland’s Suite from The Tender Land, plus festive American classics.

Rachmaninoff: Symphonic Dances
Schachter: Overture to Knoxville
Traditional (arr. Dragon): America the Beautiful
Copland: Suite from The Tender Land
Copland: Hoe-Down from Rodeo
Sousa: The Stars and Stripes Forever
