‘Taste of the Great War: WWI Centennial Dinner’

April 28, 2018 @ 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. | $100 per ticket

Mabry-Hazen House will host “Taste of the Great War: WWI Centennial Dinner.” Meatless Mondays, eat local and less wheat may sound like contemporary food pitches, but they share a tradition from food habits 100 years ago during World War I. Americans were asked to limit food waste and change eating habits so that the U.S. troops in Europe could be fed. Mabry-Hazen House and HeartFire Culinary will commemorate the centennial of American involvement in the Great War and the end of the “war to end all wars” through the food and culinary experiences of Americans in 1918. The event features a five-course meal that recreates the smells and tastes through period recipes and locally sourced ingredients. Patrick Hollis, director of Mabry-Hazen House, will discuss the behaviors, ideas and trends of this time period. Seating is limited. Attire is dressy to business casual.

Tickets are available HERE. For additional information, email Patrick Hollis at [email protected] or call 865-522-8661.
