Volunteer Ministry Center’s Carry the Torch Knoxville
Carry the Torch Knoxville is an annual event that features speakers who have an impact on the issues of homelessness, mental health and families. The 2025 event will feature Chamique Holdsclaw, a former Lady Vols basketball and WNBA player who won three national titles while playing for the late Pat Summitt and an Olympic gold medal in 2022. She also has been inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Holdsclaw is a powerful advocate for mental health, inspirational speaker and the author of “Breaking Through: Beating The Odds Shot after Shot.” Her personal struggles and mental health journey was depicted in her documentary, “Mind/Game: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw.”
Carry the Torch features a mission fair starting at 10 a.m. with agencies that provide housing, general assistance and medical and behavioral health services throughout the community and also are seeking volunteers. The luncheon starts at 11:45 a.m., with a book signing from 1-2 p.m.
