The Knoxville Museum of Art will host an opening reception for “Whistler & Company: The Etching Revival,” which includes nearly a dozen works by expatriate American artist James Abbot McNeill Whistler (1834-1903) and more than 50 etchings by some of his most accomplished American and European contemporaries.  Whistler’s images of the River Thames, Venice and Parisian scenes revived, at least in part, the art of etching in the 19th century. The gala for "A Toast to the Arts: 2019" is held by The Knoxville Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and supports the citywide efforts to recognize Beauford and Joseph Delaney, world-renowned artists and Knoxville natives.
