Appalachian Reckoning: A Region Responds to Hillbilly Elegy

March 12, 2019 @ 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. |

Appalachian Reckoning is a retort, at turns rigorous, critical, angry and hopeful, to the long shadow Hillbilly Elegy has cast over the region and its imagining. But it also moves beyond Hillbilly Elegy to allow Appalachians from varied backgrounds to tell diverse and complex stories through scholarship, prose, poetry and photography. The event will feature a panelists of contributors from the collection including: Meredith McCarroll, Robert Gipe, Linda Parson, Bob Hutton, Lou Murrey and Jeremy Jones. A cash bar and refreshments will be available.
