Sarah Jane Hardrath Kramer Lecture

May 16, 2024 @ 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. | Registration requested

This free annual event celebrates the life of Sarah Jane Hardrath Kramer and her passion for the arts and dedication to the Dulin Gallery of Art and Knoxville Museum of Art. The 2024 speaker is Karen LaMonte, who has created sublime and enigmatic works in glass, ceramic, bronze, iron, paper and marble ranging from monotype prints to monumental stone sculptures that explore themes of beauty, gender, identity and the natural world. LaMonte earned her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and traveled to Prague on a Fulbright scholarship to work in the glass casting studios of Eastern Bohemia; while there, she created Vestige (2000), a glass sculpture depicting a life-sized dress with the wearer absent. This work garnered international acclaim, thanks in part to an essay about it by renowned art critic Arthur Danto.

Registration is requested and available HERE. A reception will follow with cash bar.
